Major

You will need to complete 11 courses including:

AY112

*one course oriented around a particular cultural area/region

*one course focusing on a significant topical field in anthropology

            [*NB:  Most courses that fulfill these two requirements are offered at the 200-level.  See specific course numbers listed in the catalogue and consult your advisor for additions to this list each semester. It may be possible to count a 300-level course as an “area” or “topical” requirement; check with your advisor to discuss this possibility.]

AY313 (ideally taken in late sophomore or in junior year)

AY333 (ideally taken in junior year)

5 electives (at least two at the 300-level or above, no more than one at the 100-level)

AND

a capstone senior seminar (400-level) taken in the final semester of senior year. Only under exceptional circumstances is it possible to take the senior seminar prior to the final semester of residence.

Students can include one course taken outside the department as an elective, chosen from those listed in the Anthropology section of the course  catalogue . It is possible to petition for a course other than those listed to be counted as an elective; contact your advisor if you have questions.

 

 
Minor
