I am interning at the Bay Institute in San Francisco which is a non-profit
environmental organization that works to preserve and restore the bay
environment. I will be splitting my time between the main office where all
business, development, and communications activities take place. I will do
office-related work here in order to learn more about how non-profits funciton
and I will also be reading up on current issues and successful projects the
Institute has completed. While at the office, I will also attend some staff
meetings, board meetings and relevant community or other events. I will also
be helping with restoration and maintenance of restored wetland areas in the
bay that the Institute has planted. In addition I will shadow and work with
the various scientists at TBI, including the head ecologist, working on some
GIS projects and helping them to complete papers for publication.
