Seminar Room Key
Philosophy majors may have a key to the Philosophy Seminar Room (Lovejoy 246). This is quiet after hours study spot, and the computer is for student use. In exchange for a signed contract and $5.00 deposit, the Department Chair will be glad to give you a key.

Reuman Reading Group
The Reuman Reading Group, named after Dana Professor of Philosophy Robert Reuman, is great fun and meets each semester to read and discuss a philosophy book of the group's choosing. A grant in memory of Professor Robert Reuman offsets the cost of the book. You may sign up for this one credit reading group under PL227 or PL278.

Annual Clark Essay Contest
Each spring, the Department holds the John Alden Clark Essay contest. Any student at Colby may enter the contest. Essays are judged on their philosophical excellence and originality. Winners are announced at the annual awards ceremony in April and presented with a modest cash prize. So, as you work on papers in your courses, keep in mind the option of submitting it to the Clark Essay Contest.

Department Employment
There are some employment opportunities in the Philosophy Department. Each year the Department hires logic graders for PL 151 and 158. The department also sometimes hires one or more students to serve as research assistants during the school year and/or the summer. Feel free to ask any member of the Department about what employment options there might be.
