Adan Hussain, Assistant Director
adan

Adan Hussain is the Assistant Director of the Colby College Farnham Writers' Center.  During his time time at Colby, he tutored for 3 years and took part in various activities ranging from Campus Conversations on Race to the Middle East Lunch Series. He loves to socialize, so he will be delighted to have anyone to stop by and see him in the Writers' Center. A proud Posse Alum, hailing from Queens, NYC, he graduated in 2011 with a degree in Mathematical Sciences and two minors in Japanese and Education. In his free time, he can be found restaurant hopping, reading a book, or chatting with someone new he met that week. He is psyched to be a part of the Writers' Center.

Melanie Brown, '13
Brown, Melanie

Melanie is an English and psychology double major hailing from Denver, Colorado. She likes obscure words, video games, bell peppers, and big windows. She is probably taller than you, so don't try anything funny. She's also a little embarrassed about how much she enjoys lolcats, so try not to bring it up in your next session.

Jackson Clark, '12
Clark, Jackson

Jackson is a junior from Maine who enjoys being outside, playing the guitar, reading, and writing.  He is an English major but might also end up applying to medical school at some point.

Lauren Fisher, '13
Fisher, Lauren

Lauren is a sophomore government major with a minor in creative writing. She likes events that are themed, Bob's lunch on Thursdays, birthday cards, summer camp and cream cheese on banana bread--- in no particular order. When not in the writers' center, she's an avid cuddler. So swing by for a big, platonic hug and some tutoring!

Veronica Foster, '13
Foster, Veronica

Veronica is a junior English/WGSS double major with a concentration in creative writing.  She is especially fond of Thai food, online Scrabble, and talking about sex (academically, of course).  You may have met her large black puppy wandering around campus—yes, she has the cutest dog ever.

Jen Goldman, '12
Jen Goldman pins the tail

Jen is a psychology major from Jersey who plays softball at Colby. She enjoys skiing, sunny days by the pond, singing along with bad 90’s music, doodling, and avoiding homework.
Rachel Haines, '13
Haines, Rachel

Rachel is an anthropology major who loves words.  She's from Maine (but doesn't like blueberries) and is a fan of "Lost," chocolate, and all kinds of music.

Nicole Hewes, '12
nicole

Nicole is an English and educational studies double major from New Hampshire. She enjoys going to the ocean, playing Scrabble, and baking cookies and cupcakes. She also likes writing and people who come to visit in the Writers' Center!

Lindsay Hylek, '12
Hylek, Lindsay

Lindsay is all over the place. In a few words, she is a psychology and international studies double major, a mango lovah, and a Tim Burton fanatic. She also overuses the expression "woot woot".
Larissa Lee, '13
Lee, Larissa

Larissa is a sophomore majoring in international relations and environmental studies with a concentration in policy. She loves snorkeling, snowboarding, and sunshine. She is an active member of both the pottery club and outing club and enjoys eating chocolate in the writers' center.

Madison Louis, '13
Louis, Madison

Madison is a sophomore from Massachusetts who loves cheese, bananas, and Pad Thai (even if they are all put together). She enjoys running through the beautiful Maine woods and is interested in photography.

Abbott Matthews, '13
Matthews, Abbott

Abbott is a government and Latin American studies major from the small southern town of Wilson, North Carolina.  She loves playing soccer and reading book after book.  Although she sorely misses sweet tea & fried chicken, she has succumbed to some new addictions at Colby: Foss, Glee, and coffee.
Adam Spierer, '13
Spierer, Adam

Adam is a biochemistry major from New Hampshire. On campus, he is a member of the Colby Men's Swim Team and Colby Water Polo Club and is a CA in Mary Low. In his free time he enjoys sunshine, ice cream, aerobicizing, playing with bunnies, and drawing up elaborate schemes on how genetically engineered animals can overtake the domestic pet industry.

Arvia Sutandi, '13
Sutandi, Arvia

Arvia is your typical wordophile, often found lurking in the library & helpfully supplying people with those pesky words that linger just out of reach on the tip of the tongue. She has never met an essay she couldn't beat into submission. She is currently a sophomore English and psychology double major. She is usually found at the gym, Starbucks, on the dance floor, in an art studio, or on Cloud Nine.

Cale Wardell, '13
Wardell, Cale

Cale is from Lake Forest, IL. When not lost or missing her key card, Cale likes to play field hockey, eat things that don't have dairy in them, talk really loudly, bounce while she walks, and watch Planet Earth.

Winsor Wesson, '12
Wesson, Winsor

Winsor is a junior English major taking pre-med classes. He's grown up in a few different places, but he likes to call Maine home. The idea of movies, (good) books, winter's cold, and traveling keeps him warm at night.
