Oak Institute For the Study of International Human Rights

The Oak Institute for the Study of International Human Rights, established in 1998, annually names and brings to campus a prominent practitioner in international human rights work. While in residence the Oak Human Rights Fellow teaches, pursues research, and organizes lectures and other events centered around his or her area of expertise. The 2005 Oak Human Rights Fellow is Frances Lovemore, M.D., the medical director of the Amani Trust, which is the key organization in Zimbabwe providing services and support to victims of human rights abuses. For 2006 the Oak Institute seeks a fellow working on environmental issues that affect the rights of individuals and communities.
