498s Reading Japanese 'Business Novels' A study of Japanese "business novels" (keizai shôsetsu) which put business and/or economic theories and activities into real-life contexts. Conducted entirely in Japanese, looks at the socio-eco-politico-cultural significance of each novel. Using the techniques of literary analysis, examines the distances among the "factual" data, details within the data, plots, the narrator, roles of the characters, and their viewpoints. Prerequisite: Japanese 421.
