| GE398 - Plate Tectonics |
| Primary-literature-assimilation course that guides students through the development of plate tectonic theory from its beginnings to modern-day thoughts on plate movements and interactions. Topics include growth of oceanic crust, subduction tectonics, continental strike-slip tectonics, and continent-continent collision. Laboratory component emphasizes analysis of modern and ancient plate boundaries using geophysical, bathometric, geospatial, thermochronologic, and geological data sets. Also designed to improve oral communication skills. |
