Creative Ways to Address Bullying Workshop
Tuesday, November 12, 4 p.m.
Diamond Building, 145
As we saw in the movie "Bully," bullying thrives in certain school and community ecosystems where bullying has been normalized by peers; where adults are not equipped to effectively respond; and where targets have internalized the abuse, and stopped seeking help. How can we create environments in our schools in communities where bullying cannot thrive, but standing up can? This breakout session will be an open dialogue on disrupting the ecosystems where bullying thrives through prevention and leadership efforts, and through indentifying four areas where we can make a difference in our schools and communities (exploring hot-spots, engaging parents, encouraging professions development, and fostering positive peer cultures). This will also be an opportunity to participate to talk about the particular challenges they face in their schools and communities, and learn from each other's specific experiences, ideas, and creative solutions. Pre-Registration is required-- To register for the workshop, phone or email Megan Fossa at the Goldfarb Center, 859-5300 or mevigue@colby.edu. Space is limited to 30 participants. |
