Courtney’s passion for writing was sparked by her second grade teacher, who allotted Courtney class time to write her very first novel about a class trip to Disney World.  Since then, the injustices of the world around her have instigated her interest in journalism.  Courtney harbors a particular interest in international affairs.

Courtney has been working at the Colby Echo since arriving on the Hill, first as a member of news staff and then as the Assistant Features Editor during the spring of her freshman year.  This year she was promoted to Features Editor, and she’s excited to continue working at the newspaper for the duration of her college career.

As a sophomore English major with a concentration in creative writing, Courtney is hoping to gain as much writing experience as possible before pursuing a Master’s degree in Journalism.  Although she was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, Courtney is excited to experience the beauty and culture of other cities both within and beyond the borders of the United States.  Next spring she will be studying abroad in Italy, where she intends to work on her minor in Italian while interning for an Italian publication.

Aside from journalism, Courtney’s hobbies include running, reading, and spending as much time as possible with her three younger sisters before she has to enter the “real world.”  She is applying for internships in various cities, but hopes to be accepted by a magazine or newspaper stationed in New York City or Boston.
