Sarah is a sociology major who has enjoyed writing, asking questions and learning about those around her from a young age. She served as a writer and an editor for her high school newspaper and went on to join The Colby Echo as a news staff writer as soon as she arrived on the Hill her freshman year. A rising senior, Sarah has served as the assistant news editor, SGA beat writer and news editor for The Echo. She is looking forward to being the paper's editor-in-chief for the 2012-2013 school year. In addition to working on The Echo, Sarah served as member of the Class of 2013 Council during her first two years on the Hill and also worked as a Colby Cares About Kids (CCAK) mentor.

This spring, Sarah, a Bethesda, Maryland native, studied abroad at the University of Edinburgh. She is enjoying getting to know Scotland and experiencing life at a large university. Over the past few years, Sarah has spent her summers at home in the DC area, where she has had the opportunity to explore the fields of communications and journalism while interning for the National Peace Corps Association and Bethesda Magazine.

This summer Sarah will be an editorial intern at PARADE Magazine in New York City as part of the American Society of Magazine Editors (ASME) Magazine Internship Program. Sarah will work alongside PARADE’s staff, assisting with the publication’s print edition and its website. Her opportunities may include reporting, researching and writing articles as well as coordinating data or stories for the publication’s tablet edition and analyzing online traffic.
