Who can submit papers to the Working Paper Series? All members of the Colby College faculty are invited to submit their research with the expectation that the work be consistent with the mission of the Goldfarb Center for Public Affairs and Civic Engagement. Collaborative research across disciplines (including those in departments or programs not formally affiliated with the Center) and scholarly research by faculty with students is particularly encouraged. Are submissions to the Working Paper Series peer reviewed? No. A very limited amount of editorial oversight will occur on all publications, focusing on consistency of format, assignment to appropriate scholarly field, and verification that all papers are intended for distribution as a research effort suitable for publication in a professional journal. How are papers in the series distributed? The Goldfarb Center Working Paper Series is part of the Colby Digital Archive (CoDA). CoDA is a service provided by the Colby Libraries. The goal of CoDA is to preserve and provide access to the intellectual and cultural work that makes Colby a premier liberal arts college. CoDA also provides a venue for the institution to maintain its historical record. CoDA is available via the web at http://coda.colby.edu. CoDA will be a registered site under the Open Archives Initiative, which means that all of the content in the repository, including the Goldfarb Center Working Paper Series, will be harvestable by popular search engines like Google, Yahoo, etc. What submissions are not appropriate for the Working Paper Series? It is not the intent of the Working Paper Series to publish student research papers, editorials, op-ed pieces, transcripts, lectures, videos, digital recordings, posters, or other works that might be viewed as legitimate and valuable forms of professional activity but not typically treated by the author’s discipline as a scholarly research effort, e.g., for eventual publication in a professional journal. Other forms of professional activity consistent with the mission of the Goldfarb Center may be submitted to the Colby Digital Archive. Please refer to the Guidelines for Submission. How do I submit my research? Contact the editor of the Working Paper Series, Michael Donihue, via email at Michael.Donihue@colby.edu to request a number for your paper; please include the title and abstract for your paper with your request. We are striving to maintain a common look and feel for the series and have defined a standardized format for all papers. Please refer to the Guidelines for Submission and Goldfarb Center Working Papers Title Page. |
