Education School Visits Education Student Visits
The Museum offers a range of educational tours, classes, and activities for school children and adults. Our goals are to support education at Colby College and in the state of Maine, increase aesthetic awareness, and encourage our visitors to be critical thinkers and lifelong learners. To this end, all of our educational programming is free and open to the public.
Colby College Museum of Art

Maine school children visit the Museum for a docent-led tour of the collection.

School Visits

The Colby College Museum of Art encourages group visits. Docent-led educational tours of the collection and special exhibitions are available Tuesday through Friday by appointment between 10 am and 4:30 pm.

Funding is available to offset the cost of school bus transportation. We ask that you schedule your visit at least two weeks in advance, and provide at least one chaperone for every 10 children. We recommend allowing a full hour for your visit.

Please Note:

We apologize for our inability to conduct any school tours at this time because of the construction currently being undertaken for our expansion.  The museum will be reopening in time for the 2013/2014 school year, with an additional 10,000 square feet of exhibition space and an art classroom added, which will provide a richer art experience for school groups visiting the museum.  If you would like to schedule a school tour for when the museum reopens please return to the museum website in the spring of 2013.
