EN237JA: The Art of Fly Fishing
Reading and writing about fly fishing and classics such as Izzak Walton, Thoreau and Hemingway. We will then study the ethos of catch-and-release and its culture of stewardship of the environment. Then hands-on: fly casting lessons in the Field House by LL Bean instructors, fly tying, and learning to tie our own flies, how to "nymph" and choose the right gear will prepare us to spend week three near Mammoth Lakes, California, where we will fly fish for three days with registered guides. Week four: blog-writing skills and producing your own blog on fly fishing and a topic of your choice. Beginners and experienced fly fishers are welcome. This class counts for the "L" requirement. $1700-$2100 depending on gear owned.
