What are the advantages and disadvantages of a decentralized management structure? What types of companies (in what circumstances) might best take advantage of a decentralized structure? Do you think that Bridges's ideas in "The End of the Job as We Know It" seem realistic? What kind of organizational structure would best support the system he has set out? The book says (p.226): "Corporate culture is generally thought to have a very strong influence on a firm's performance over time." If that is true, it is extremely important! What IS corporate culture?--give examples of corporate cultural norms that would be of importance to a firm's performance. What creates corporate culture? What can change it? What is the role of leadership in successful management and how does this relate to cultural issues? Respond to the question at the end of the Case Study, "Evaluation of Organizational Effectiveness"
