In January 2007 Colby's trustees approved a second-phase expansion of Cotter Union, Colby's student center. A 9,000-square-foot addition on the east side will accommodate the Colby Bookstore, which will move from the Roberts Building.
Following on the heels of the $10-million project to create the Pulver Pavilion and renovate most of the existing space in the unionduring 2006-07, the bookstore expansion will be ready for occupancy after Reunion 2008. The two-story addition is a $4.25-million project.
The main access to the new bookstore is off the Page Commons Room lobby in Cotter, facing Mayflower Hill Drive.
Relocation of the bookstore will add critical mass and energy to activities and functions in Cotter Union, helping to make the union the true hub of student life at Colby. The bookstore will offer the same goods and services that it has provided for many years in the Roberts Building.
