Mission

The purpose of this department is to offer Colby faculty information on funding resources and to make the process of applying for grants as easy as possible. In the early stages of our homepage, we have provided information on how to apply for external funding at Colby, funding resources at Colby, and FAQs. As our database grows, we will add more features on funding resources external to Colby.

Services Provided:

The College Grants Office is a resource for faculty and staff, providing information and assistance in the grant seeking process. The office is also responsible for recording all grant activity, ensuring compliance with College and federal regulations for all sponsored programs, and overseeing the reporting responsibilities on institutional grants.

The IRIS Grants Database

The Illinois Researcher Information Service (IRIS) is a unit of the University of Illinois Library at Urbana-Champaign. The IRIS Database currently contains over 9,000 active federal and private funding opportunities in the sciences, social sciences, arts, and humanities. In addition to funding opportunities for faculty, the IRIS Database also contains fellowships and scholarships for grad students and undergraduates.
 
To search this very useful database, following this pathway:
 
1) http://www.colby.edu/academics_cs/library/
2) click on “Article and Media Databases”
3) At the search link, type in “IRIS”.
4) At the IRIS database, you will see the under the icon on the upper left “Search Iris Database.” Click on this link to do your search.
