Area Designers and Printers

Once your job is ready, collect all materials and take them to the printer/copy center. The printers and copy centers listed have extensive experience with Colby jobs. The information below is up to date as of January 2005, but, as you can understand, it is fluid. Prices quoted are estimates. (Note: Design firms such as Grafico do not offer in-house printing, but for an additional cost they will see your job through the production and printing stages.)
Duplication and Photocopying All duplication and copy jobs for Colby are handled through SBS/Carbon Copy. Drop-off and pick-up times at the Eustis Service Center are 9 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 4 p.m. You may also visit their Web site (below) and upload your document. This is a fast and cost-effective method for producing materials. Please make sure to enter your Colby account number and any special instructions in the "message" field. SBS copies cost $.03 each (on-campus copies cost $.07 plus the cost of paper). New SBS service books are available. Please see mailroom staff to obtain one for your department. The service book includes samples of all 206 paper colors in stock and pricing, along with all the mailing and finishing services provided. VERY IMPORTANT SBS/Carbon Copy conducts all copyright clearance for the College and can determine whether or not copying falls under "fair use" per section 107 of the copyright act. This step is necessary for any published article, book, etc. before it is copied. SBS carries copyright clearance insurance so the College is protected by law for all jobs that are submitted and produced by SBS. All academic course packs must be submitted through the bookstore for copyright clearance and sales. Billing is done on a monthly basis, so make sure you have your Colby account number when the order is placed. If you have a project for which you would like to work with an independent designer, contact the design office at ext. 4355 for assistance. Good to work with. Price for design varies with complexities and specifics of job. Haskins comes to Colby 2-3 times a day. They have quick turnaround and an extensive selection of papers to suit all budgets. Very good to work with. Atkins Printing 115 Main Street Waterville, Maine 04901 T: 872-5565 F: 872-0792 Price estimates: Dave Shaw Offset printing, design, and other services. $65/hour for design in addition to printing costs. Price for printing varies with complexities and specifics of job. Atkins has relatively quick turnaround and an extensive selection of papers to suit all budgets. Good to work with.
