Counseling Services provides privacy and sensitive, skilled listeners to help address problems that can interfere with academic life. While most of our work is with students experiencing difficulty with ordinary life events, we are trained to recognize and arrange for treatment of serious mental disorders. A counselor is on call at Colby 24 hours a day when school is in session.  If a situation occurs that needs attention at other hours, come to or call the Health Center at x4460.

Confidentiality is very carefully observed. Confidentiality Policy requires that we have specific permission from the student if we are to talk with faculty, deans, parents or others about the student. The exception to this is, understandably, if we have reason to believe there is imminent danger to an individual.
