Cabin
Drive-in or minimal walk-in location. Amenities vary depending upon location. All have access to some type of bathroom facility--either pit toilet, shared bath house, or private bathroom. Some cabin accomodations have kitchen facilities while other groups will enjoy cooking on camp stoves.
Frontcountry
Drive-in camping. Typically with access to modern amenities such as shared bath houses with flush toilets and running water--though some sites utilize pit toilets and may not have access to running water.
Exertion Levels
Mild
These trips enjoy a leisurely approach. Light day hikes with mild elevation gain/loss and low mileage are included and balanced with other trip-specific activities such as arts or wellness-related sessions.
Mild-Moderate
These trips also enjoy a leisurely approach. Day hikes include more elevation gain/loss and mileage than mild trips.
Moderate
Moderate day hikes have an enjoyable level of elevation gain/loss and tend to be in the five-six mile range--though it could be more or less depending upon the group's abilities, weather, and other factors.
Trips such as whitewater rafting are considered to be moderate as there is paddling required but the river and the rest of the team help to do the work.
There are several backpacking trips rated as moderate due to a lower level of elevation gain/loss as compared to other backpacking trips. Mileage on moderate backpacking trips tends to be higher than on moderate day hikes. These are great beginner trips!
Moderate-Strenuous
Participants are engaged in moderate to strenuous activities for some, but not all, of the time.
In some cases, such as canoeing, trips can be considered moderate to strenuous depending upon conditions. For example, wind can make paddling a large lake more challenging.

Engaged in strenuous physical activities for the majority of the time. These trips are primarily expeditionary in nature. For example, backpacking trips that hike from campsite to campsite each night. Some basecamp-style trips such as Baxter Trailwork or Cycling are considered to be strenuous as well.
