Baxter State Park Trailwork

undefined
Located in the north central portion of Maine, Baxter Park is home to the state's highest mountain, Mount Katahdin. Participants will work closely with Baxter Park Rangers in areas around campgrounds and moderately strenuous trails. Activities may include assisting with trail clean-up and maintenance, trail construction and perhaps interpretive work as well.

Accommodations will be rustic with tents provided and cooking will be done over campstoves. Rugged, broken-in boots are important on this trip. Amenities are limited in this park due to its wilderness characteristics. Areas to swim are located nearby to the camping locations. Participants should have an interest in working alongside park rangers and enjoying the rugged mountains of this 204,733 acre park. Weather can be variable with slightly warmer temperatures away from the coast of Maine. Mountain valleys can cool down quickly at night. For a preview, visit: http://www.baxterstateparkauthority.com
