This trip to Maine's second-highest mountain is structured for those participants who will be comfortable hiking on the Appalachian Trail for the entire duration of the trip. Moderate to Strenuous hiking is involved, as are primitive camping conditions. There are no amenities along the trail so participants should be comfortable without common conveniences. Transportation is by bus. Participants need a full-sized, internal-frame backpack, sturdy well-broken-in hiking boots, sleeping bag and pad, and personal equipment needed for 3 days on the trail.
