Sustainability and Conservation as Core College Values

Colby is committed to practices and policies that respect the environment and promote sustainable living. Pioneering academic programs and a historical commitment to green values made Colby a leader in environmental initiatives, and success is evident—in its dramatic reduction of carbon emissions, the effectiveness of the Environmental Advisory Group, and innovative environmental initiatives throughout the organization.     EAG All-Campus Forum |  November 10, 2009

    The Environmental Advisory Group held its first all-campus forum Oct. 22. The EAG will consider a list of more than 50 suggestions received at the forum and will report out later this year.


  • Students Help Sustain Mid-Maine |  October 08, 2009

    When residents of Waterville wanted to expand the city's sustainability initiatives, they turned to students from for assistance. Five college interns spent the summer working for the new, regional organization Sustain Mid-Maine.

    LEED Gold Announced |  August 18, 2009

    Two Colby residence halls built in the early 1950s and renovated in 2008 received LEED Gold Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
