Colby Emergency Response

starColby Emergency Response (CER) is a student-run, volunteer, EMT rescue-squad that serves the Colby College campus and community. We are a non-licensed service, functioning at the EMT-Basic level. We are dispatched through the Colby Security department as first-response rescuers to medical emergencies on campus. We are available 24 hours per day and 7 days per week, during the school year.

Requesting CER:

  • Dial 5-9-1-1 from any on campus phone (207-859-5911 from an off-campus phone) or push the red button on any blue call boxes located around campus.
  • Give the dispatcher the exact location of the patient. Include building, room number, etc.
  • Calmly tell the dispatcher the nature of the emergency - what happened and why CER is needed.
  • Be sure to alert the dispatcher if the patient is unconscious, not breathing, or bleeding severely.
  • Give the dispatcher the number from which you are calling, or a number where you can be reached in the event that Security or CER needs more information while they are en-route.
  • Always let the dispatcher hang up before you.
