All Health Service encounters are treated with confidentiality. Counseling Services information and records are kept separate from a student's medical record and information is not shared with anyone without the student's specific written permission. The only exception to this is in the event of a health/safety emergency. Likewise, information from the medical record or infirmary admissions is not given to anyone--friends, professors, or even parents--without the student's express permission (refer to The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act - FERPA).
