The American Studies Program at Colby College invites applications for a one-year position as Visiting Assistant Professor in American Studies beginning Fall 2013. We seek an Americanist with a specialty in popular culture and gender/sexuality. The position carries a five-course load. Evidence of teaching excellence and a Ph. D. in American Studies or other closely related interdisciplinary field in hand by September 2013 are required.
The successful applicant will teach two core courses in American Studies (including the introductory course, a junior-level methods course, and/or a senior seminar), an elective in gender and popular culture, and two courses in Integrated Studies (IS). IS courses are first-year seminars that are team-taught in clusters of linked topics.
