Assistant Director/Internship Coordinator Career Center (This appointment will work an 11-month schedule)
The Assistant Director will participate in a wide variety of initiatives for the Career Center, including meeting with individuals and groups of students regarding career planning questions, internship/job search skill development, and resume review.Participate in the department’s implementation of the Colby Connect four-year career planning program, including presenting workshops on self-assessment, career exploration, and career-related communication topics.Administer Jan Plan internship program, funded internships, and alumni/parent affinity groups. Partner with other departments on campus, including alumni, parents, and employers. Develop and cultivate relationships with local employers to expand the opportunities for in-semester internships to supplement summer and January opportunities.Coordinate opportunities for job shadow experiences. This position reports to the Director and will work closely with all members of the Career Center staff.Qualifications include: bachelor’s degree, with master’s degree preferred, plus 1-2 years experience in a related field; ability to interact effectively with diverse student population; experience building and securing relationships with constituent groups; excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation of workshops and related educational experiences for students; strong time-management and data-management skills; experience with evaluation of relevant career development programming; willingness to develop as a professional in an office that must be responsive to changing job markets and career/student development trends.
