CUSTODIAL SUPERVISOR
PHYSICAL PLANT DEPARTMENT

The position of Custodial Supervisor is responsible for overseeing assigned custodial staff in the performance of their daily tasks, including special events. The position is responsible for working with campus constituents to provide quality service along with providing support services for campus faculty, staff, students and guests. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Grounds and Custodial Services and involves the oversight and coordination of approximately 25 custodians as well as a number of temporary and student employees. Normal working hours for this position are Monday through Friday from 4:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Saturday mornings on a rotating basis during the academic year. Due to the nature of this position, additional coverage will be required for snow removal, campus emergencies and other special events. This is a salaried position, exempt from overtime.

Skills and Experience Required:
1) The ideal candidate must possess positive leadership qualities and be able to motivate people, 
  work cooperatively, solve problems, make decisions and effectively manage personnel.
2) Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
3) Must have experience in an institutional or commercial environment.
4) Must have the ability to work independently and successfully multi task in a busy facility.
5) The ability to effectively manage budgets is required.
6) Must have a working knowledge of applicable federal, state and local codes.
7) Must have practical computer knowledge and skills. Must be proficient in email and Microsoft Office
  applications including the ability to create and use Word documents and Excel spreadsheets.
8) Must be able to work in a diverse work environment.

Education and Licensure Required
a) Must have a minimum of ten years professional experience in custodial services.
b) At least five years of demonstrated supervisory/management experience is required.
c) This position requires a College degree (Associates or higher) in a related discipline.
d) Additional coursework, training, seminars, certifications are desired and recognized as an indication
of the applicant’s commitment to continuous improvement and professionalism.
e) Extensive experience beyond ten years; a high school diploma or GED; and significant seminars and 
course work may be substituted for the associate’s degree at the discretion of the College.
