Faculty/Staff Support Center Technician
Information Technology Services 

The Faculty/Staff Support Center Technician reports to the Director of Personal Computer Support Services and supports the range of College owned Macintosh and Windows computing hardware through consulting, troubleshooting and repair in telephone, on-line, and in-person communication; oversees a vendor-managed printer supply and maintenance program; completes regular training for both Macintosh and Windows hardware systems; identifies new and emerging issues regarding computing hardware and printers; develops and implements preventive maintenance strategies; coordinates used hardware donation process with local schools; maintains web pages for maintenance and efficient use of computers; maintains tracking system information for support calls; participates in the initial operating system and software configuration for new and re-allocated computers; and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications include: Significant experience in trouble shooting hardware and operating system problems, researching problems through vendor and user group documents (especially on the Web) to determine repair solutions, and implementing and verifying effective repair is required. Solid troubleshooting experience at significant depth with Windows and Macintosh hardware, operating systems and a willingness to learn to support the other systems is required; prior experience supporting a range of Windows and Macintosh hardware and OS versions is highly desired; up-to-date repair certification by Apple or a Windows computer manufacturer is expected. Experience using software and systems to perform imaging of new and re-allocated hardware is required. Effective and patient oral communication skills, especially helping people with a wide range of experience over the phone and in person, are required. Effective skill in written communication with people of all technical levels is required. Must be able to work under time constraints and to meet deadlines. Commitment to team participation, especially the information sharing and mutual support within the team is required. College degree is preferred.
