MAJOR GIFTS OFFICER

Reporting to the Associate Vice President of College Relations, the Major Gift Officer (MGO) will proactively manage a pool of donors and prospects rated $50,000 or more for Colby’s “Reaching the World” comprehensive campaign.The MGO works closely with the Colby Fund contact officers and Director of Parent’s Programs to coordinate the solicitation of major gift prospects for Colby’s Alumni Fund and Parents Fund.In creating and implementing individual prospect action plans, s/he will partner with the Gift Planning team in devising comprehensive donor-centered solicitations to alumni, parents and friends. The MGO should have 3-5 years of major gift fundraising experience or experience in serving as a representative of an institution with success in face-to-face solicitations in a college, university or academic medical setting.

 

Qualifications include: Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree preferred; 3-5 years major gift fundraising experience in a College, University or Academic Medical setting or success in making face-to-face solicitations on behalf of non-profit institutions; demonstrated success in soliciting and closing gifts; appreciation of Colby’s mission and the ability to effectively communicate it; superb written and oral communication skills; willingness and ability to travel and work outside normal working hours; an ability to make an impact in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment; an ability to work collaboratively in a complex environment; a valid driver’s license; an entrepreneurial spirit and a sense of humor.
