STUDENT FINANCIAL SERVICES
ASSISTANT
The position reports directly to the Director of Student Financial Services, performs day-to-day professional activities assisting students and parents with both financial aid and bursar services, communicating government and college policies, and financial tasks associated with administering aid programs. The SFS Assistant supports the daily cashiering operations, as well as the administrative tasks associated with accounts receivable and financial aid processing. Duties require occasional work outside of the regular office hours.
Qualifications include: Post secondary education, associate’s or bachelor’s degree is preferred. Must have education and/or experience in accounting, cashier and/or general bookkeeping. Full working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, especially Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook required. Experience with data base management and report writing is helpful. Excellent interpersonal skills including, the ability to converse with students and parents of various educational, socio-economic, and ethnic backgrounds in a professional and helpful manner, required. Must exhibit excellent customer service to students, parents, and agencies, often dealing with confidential and highly sensitive personal and financial information. Ability to adapt to changing work situations and responsibilities required. Must be able to communicate effectively on and off campus and be able to learn and adapt to changing federal, state, and institutional rules, regulations and policies. Experience in financial aid office and knowledge of federal aid practices a plus. Excellent written and oral communication skills, and attention to detail, are required.
