Colby College invites applications for a one-year, visiting faculty position In Sociology, beginning September 1, 2010. The successful candidate will teach five courses including one section of introductory sociology, a required course in basic research methods, and one in social inequality.  Additional courses should broaden and complement existing departmental course offerings. Desired areas include, but are not limited to, sociology of education, medical sociology, environmental sociology, and sociology of art. Candidates with a focus on public sociology, civic engagement and/or service learning are strongly encouraged. ABD candidates will be considered. Evidence of teaching experience is required.

A complete application must include a curriculum vitae; letter of application including statements on educational philosophy, teaching experience, and research interests; evidence of teaching effectiveness including course evaluations if available; and names and addresses of three references.
