The Department of Music at Colby College invites applications for an instructor in applied violin/viola (non-tenure-track). The position will be compensated on a per-student basis. Duties will include teaching weekly individual violin/viola lessons (currently about 15 students per semester), and serving as concertmaster for the Colby Symphony Orchestra (compensated on a per-service basis). The Music department is also seeking an individual to serve as conductor of the Colby Symphony Orchestra. The position requires documented success in teaching and performing; a completed Masters degree or equivalent professional experience; and the ability to work with students, faculty, and college community in a small liberal arts environment. Effective date of employment is September 1, 2013.
