Digital Certificates

Digital certificates provide a secure method of authenticating users and computers as well as securing (through encryption) access to online resources.  Colby ITS employs digital certificates to authenticate and secure networked resources and connections such as Web, VPN and wireless services.

Colby is affiliated with the Internet2 InCommon certificate service, which is used to validate and sign all digital certificates used by on-campus resources.

Personal/Individual Certificates

Certificates for individual use (issued to a specific individual), used for services like digitally signing and encrypting documents, are available by request.  For more information on personal certificates, please contact the appropriate ITS support desk.
