Digital Certificates

Digital certificates provide a secure method of authenticating and connecting to online resources.  Colby ITS employs digital certificates to authenticate and secure networked resources and connections such as VPN access and encrypted wireless.  In order to use any certificate, it must be installed on your computer.

Windows Domain (Faculty and Staff) Users

Microsoft Windows computers on the 'Colby' domain have certificates automatically delivered to their computer.  If you are a Faculty or Staff member with a college-owned Windows computer, this is most likely the case.  Faculty and Staff using Apple Macintosh computers will need to install certificates using the instructions below.

Non-Domain Computer and Apple Macintosh Users

For non-Colby domain (such as student-owned computers) or Apple Macintosh computer users, certificates must be installed manually. Those users who wish to use a Colby certificate  must download and install Colby certificates by selecting your computer's operating system from the list below (Colby authentication is required to download the certificates):
