Recommended E-mail Client

Colby College recommends that students use webmail and that faculty and staff use either Outlook (for Windows), or Entourage (for Macs).  Please consult with the Support Center for information on how to configure Outlook or Entourage for your computer.
 
Other E-mail Clients
  • Alpine/Pine - A UNIX e-mail client accessed by logging onto colby0.colby.edu and typing "alpine". Alpine is fast and easy to use but does not handle non-text e-mail attachments (e.g., photos or Word documents) well. Stored mail folders are completely compatible with webmail and IMAP e-mail clients.  For more information on using Alpine on Colby0, click here.  For information on using Pine through CARS, click here. 
  • Thunderbird - for more information on how to configure your computer for Thunderbird, click here.
  • Eudora - formerly used by Colby College, this client is now unsupported by both its original distributor and by Colby.  This client is dead, don't use it.
