Keyserver Access

The Keyserver is a virtual software library, accessible via \\fileserver1\Software\Software Library. High-end graphics, statistics, desktop publishing and other specialized applications which are deemed too expensive for campus wide use can be used from this library. The Keyserver cannot be used off campus - the computer must be on Colby's network to be able to use Keyserver software.To use the Keyserver applications, you must first install the client file on your computer.

Client Installation
Windows:
  1. Click Start > Run
  2. Type \\fileserver1\software
  3. Press Enter
  4. You may be prompted for your Colby username and password (students should use their Colby e-mail address with @colby.edu as their username )
  5. Double click Software Library > Windows Client
  6. Double click 000_KeyserverClient
  7. Double click K2Client.exe
  8. Click Yes when asked if you want to allow the program to make changes to the computer
  9. Enter your Colby username (for students, include @colby.edu) and password
  10. For Host DNS Name type keyserver.license.colby.edu
  11. For Protocol select TCP/IP
  12. Click Next twice, click Install, allow it to install, and finally click Finish
  13. Restart your computer
  14. Now you can use the software available on fileserver1. You can access the software titles by following steps 1-4 and then navigating to Software > Software Library  > Windows Software
  15. Copy the entire folder of the software you want to use to your local computer
    •  NOTE: Please refer to the Read Me file to set up the  program correctly
 
Macintosh OSX:
  1. On the Menu Bar choose Go > Connect to Server
  2. Type smb://fileserver1/software
  3. Click Connect
  4. You may be prompted for your Colby username and password
  5. Double click Software Library > Mac Client
  6. Double click K2Client.dmg
  7. A window will open, double click K2Client.mpkg
  8. The installer window will open, click Continue and then click Install
  9. You may be prompted for your credentials
  10. A window, "K2 Client Install," will open. Enter keyserver.license.colby.edu into the field marked KeyServer Address
  11. Once it prompts you to reboot the computer, click Restart
  12. Now you can use the software available on fileserver1. You can access the software titles by following the first four steps and navigating to Software Library > Mac Software
  13. Copy the entire folder of the software you want to use to your local computer
    • NOTE: Please refer to the Read Me file to set up the program correctly
