Outlook 2010 Integration with GMail

When you start Outlook for the first time this Startup box appears.Please click on Next….

... and this box appears.  Please confirm the Yes button is checked  and click Next.

This next screen needs to have the Internet E-mail button checked. Confirm that it is

and click on Next.

Please pay close attention to the information in this screen. The first space for `Your Name'

includes your first and last name.  The e-mail address space is your Colby user name.

The Server Information contains two account types, POP3 and IMAP.  Please select

IMAP.  Please enter the information in the `Incoming mail server' and the

`Outgoing mail server (SMTP)' just as it is listed.  The Login Information is your Colby

e-mail address and your Colby password.  Check the `Remember password' box.

Do NOT click on the Next button.

Instead, click on the `More Settings...' button.  The following box will appear.

There are six tabs but you will only deal with three of them.  The first is the general tab, shown above.

You only need to enter you colby e-mail address.  Then click on the Outgoing Server tab and....

... you only need to check the box for `My outgoing server (SMTP).... and the button for `Use same settings.....' 

This brings us to the third step.  Click on the tab titled `Advanced'

Enter the numbers 993 and 25.  The SSL and TLS is found by clicking on the drop down buttons and selecting

them.  When your done click on OK.  This brings you back to Internet E-mail Settings.

Now you click on the Next button and it brings you to the final screen that allows you to click on the Finish Button.

Outlook 2010 will access your Colby GMail account and populate Outlook!

What if it doesn't work?  Then review the above steps to make sure you didn't miss anything or you may have entered

information incorrectly.  What if everything is correct?  Do you have access to the internet?  GMail has a security feature

called 2-step verification.  If you are using that then you should temporarily turn it off.  Still having a problem?

Once you have Outlook running there is one more step you need.  This will allow you to access Colby directory.

The first step is to open Outlook.  Second, click on the File tab.  Third, click on the Account Settings button.

which will reveal a box that drops down.  Click on that box and this is what you will see.

Please click on the `Address' tab and this is what you will see.

The Mobile and Outlook address books are created by default.  What you need to do is create

a new address book so click on the `new' button and the next screen appears.

Make sure the `Internet Directory Service (LDAP) button is marked and click Next

Enter the Server Name, check both boxes and enter your Colby e-mail address and Colby password.  Click on the

`More Settings...'

Fill in the spaces and click on the Search tab

Fill in the information just as it is shown above.  Don't miss commas.  Click on the `OK' button and the Finish screen appears

Click on the `Finish' button and you have completed the tasks needed to use Outlook with GMail.
