SSH (Secure Shell) applications allow you to connect to Colby's CARS system and to colby0 via an encrypted connection. You should use ssh for terminal connections instead of telnet, and you should use sftp for secure file transfer instead of ftp. Telnet and ftp will be phased out of use at Colby in the near future. You must first have appropriate permissions set  to access these servers .

Please review the instructions below, based on your operating system, to create an SSH connection.  If you have questions or problems with these instructions, faculty and staff may contact the Support Center at support@colby.edu or x4222, students may contact Student Computer Services at scshelp@colby.edu or x4224.
