Windows Vista Certificates

Installation Instructions

NOTE: Colby Domain Windows computers will automatically receive certificates through auto-enrollment.  However, student or personal computers will need to follow the instructions below to install certificates. To verify if you already have a Colby digital certificate installed, click here.

1) Download the user certificate here.  Enter your Colby username and password (same as your email username without the "@colby.edu" and password) when prompted. Click OK.

2) Select "Open" or "Open with" and verify PFXFile(Default) is selected. Click OK.

3) Click 'Next' to begin the Certificate Import Wizard process.

4) The .pfx file should be automatically entered. Click 'Next' to begin the import.

5) Enter your Colby email account password in the dialog box. Leave the defaults (below)
Uncheck "Enable strong private key connection"
Uncheck "Mark this key as exportable"
Check " Include all extended properties"
Click Next

6) Select "Automatically select the certificate store based on the type of certificate" (default); Click Next.

7) The Wizard is complete. Click Finish. If you receive a Security Warning to verify the Colby College certification authority (CA), click Yes to install.
