Windows 2000/XP - Using Secure Shell Client

SSH Secure Shell Client, Colby's preferred ssh application for Windows, allows you to connect to Colby's CARS system and to colby0 via an encrypted connection. You must first have appropriate permissions set  to access these servers . If necessary, follow the installation directions below.
  1. Launch Secure Shell Client from Start -> Programs -> SSH Secure Shell
  2. Click Quick Connect in the toolbar
  3. Enter the Host Name: cars or colby0 
  4. Enter your network username
  5. Click  Connect

  1. Enter your network password
  2. Click OK

  1. A CARS or colby0 terminal window should now be open.
  2. An Add Profile Toolbar, which saves the settings for future logins, will also be displayed
    • Enter a name for the Profile
    • Click Add to Profiles

  3. The next time you login, instead of clicking Quick Connect (Step 2), click Profiles

SSH Secure Shell Workstation Installation - On Campus

  1. Go to Start -> Run
  2. Type \\fileserver1
  3. Browse to \\fileserver1\Software\Windows\SSH client
  4. Double click on the executable SSHSecureShellClient-3.2.9.exe
  5. Complete the installation process following the default settings

SSH Secure Shell Workstation Installation - Off Campus

  1. Download the installer from the Official Download Site
    (Choose SSHSecureShellClient-3.2.9.exe)
  2. Click OK to save to desktop
  3. Double click on the executable and follow the default settings
