The course features 45-minute lectures followed by 15-minute discussions as well as case studies and interactive presentations. The faculty initiates the topics and facilitates the following discussions in a relaxed forum, which encourages the mutual exchange of views and data and allows ample time for participant-faculty interaction.

Course Objectives
The Colby College Problems in Pediatrics course is intended to provide practical, up-to-date information for practicing pediatricians, family physicians, and other health care professionals. The overriding goal of all Colby CME is to improve the knowledge and competence of physicians. Each day of the course will combine lectures and interactive case studies. In addition, interactive case studies will be presented and discussed.
As a result of attending this conference, participants will be able to :
- understand the emerging evidence about imaging after UTI and UTI prophylaxis in children with underlying structural abnormalities
- formulate a strategy to manage patients with recurrent MRSA skin infections
- become comfortable with fabrication and application of common upper extremity splints
- learn the key elements of counseling to redirect risky adolescent behavior
- describe updated screening recommendations for adolescents and changes to the STD Treatment Guidelines
- establish a practical approach to evaluating and managing children with proteinuria
- learn management of different forms of childhood diabetes
- review key elements of screening, triage and management of potentially suicidal patients
- develop management strategies for frequently encountered cardiac complaints
