Film Screening--I Am A Man: Black Masculinity in America
Directed and produced by former Northeastern quarterback Byron Hurt, I Am A Man explores the ways in which race, class, and gender intersect to inform the experiences of men of color in the U.S. Through interviews with bell hooks, Michael Eric Dyson, Jackson Katz, and Dr. Alvin Poussaint, this documentary challenges viewers to confront their assumptions about race and gender and nuance their understandings of how “male privilege” functions.
Discussion following the screening will be facilitated by members of GQ, MOCA, and WOCA.
