Confidentiality
All health service encounters are treated in a confidential fashion. Counseling Services information and records are kept separate from a student’s medical record and information is not shared with anyone without the student’s specific written permission. The only exception to this is when a student is a threat to himself or herself or another person or by court order. Likewise, information from the medical record or Health Center admission is not shared with anyone – friends, professors, or even parents – without the student’s express permission, except as may be necessary to inform the Office of the Dean of Students that a student may be a threat to him/herself or another person, or by court order.
