Counseling Services

Counseling Services is open to any student wishing to discuss problems or situations that affect college life. Counseling Services is located in the same building as Health Services, but is a separate department and maintains separate, confidential records. Appointments with Counseling Services can be made through the Health Services receptionist (207-859-4460) on weekdays or you may book your own appointment with a counselor, please go to the myColby portal, select the "Counseling Services" tab.  You will see a list of appointments, click on one that has "Reserve It".  Appointments will be made available for a week in advance, so check back daily to see new openings if you don't see a convenient time. One of the College’s counselors (Patti Newmen, Jan Munroe, or Jing Ye) is on call 24 hours a day during the school year for emergencies. For after-hours and emergency situations, students should contact either the health center at 207-859-4460 or Security at 207-859-5911 (emergencies).

Examples of problems for which students might request consultation include, but are not limited to: concerns about academics, friends, family; body image and eating concerns; sexual orientation; depression; issues of diversity and color; stress; relationship issues; dealing with death and dying; anxiety and panic; alcohol and other drug concerns.
