Sexual Assault Policies "The members of the Colby community declare their intention to live and work on a campus where social behavior befits the extraordinary intelligence and camaraderie of the student body, where employees focus on tasks designed to undergird the achievement of teaching and learning, and where scholarship and personal excellence have the opportunity to thrive" As a community centered on intellectual inquiry and built on individual respect, the personal health and safety of students is Colby's highest priority at all times. Colby will not tolerate acts of sexual misconduct in any form. We strive, through education and advising to prevent sexual assault, harassment, stalking, intimate partner violence, and other forms of sexually intimidating or threatening conduct. Colby aims to foster an atmosphere of awareness and commitment to dignity that is supportive of women, men, and individuals of all gender and sexual identities. Regrettably, cases of sexual misconduct will sometimes occur despite our best efforts to prevent them. Colby strongly encourages individuals who have been subject to, or have witnessed sexual offenses to report them promptly to the College and local law enforcement agencies. Colby maintains and administers clear procedures for adjudicating sexual offenses that violate College policies. Additionally, we provide health care, counseling, and advising to support victims and advocates for victims of sexual misconduct. The following links contain information about sexual misconduct and the policies, procedures, and support services Colby provides to promote a safe campus environment and to respond to problems when they do occur. We urge all students to familiarize themselves with the information pertaining to sexual harassment, assault, and other misconduct contained within the booklet and on the Colby website. |
