Paul Berkner, DO FAAP, is the Director of the Medical Center and Sports Team Physician at Colby. Dr. Berkner has been at Colby since 2004. Before coming to work for Colby, Dr. Berkner was in private pediatric practice in Maine and Vermont. During that time, he served as the Medical Director for the Northland Job Corps, and served as the Medical Director for several summer camps. Dr. Berkner received his Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from New England College, and completed his residency in Pediatric at Columbia University - Morristown Memorial Hospital. He is currently certified in pediatrics with the American Board of Pediatrics, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Berkner is currently the President of the Maine Concussion Management Initiative. He is a Clinical Associate Professor of Pediatrics at New England College of Osteopathic Medicine. Lydia Bolduc Marden, NP, WHNP, FNP: Women's Health Specialist, is certified both as a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP) and as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP). Her responsibilities at Colby include Women's Health, Travel Medicine, Primary Care, Psych including eating disorders. Lydia also coordinates Health Education efforts, primarily advisor to SHOC (Student Health on Campus) and the FYS (First Year Seminar) series. She has been an RN since 1978. Lydia has a BS in Health Education from University of Maine at Farmington. She attended a program in Philadelphia that was a joint effort between University of Penn and Family Planning and became certified as a Women's Health NP in 1992. In 2000 she earned an MSN from USM. In 2004 Lydia returned to Husson College to get a postmasters and became certified as an FNP (Family NP) with a sub specialty in Psyche. Jennifer Griffiths Riddle MSN, FNP-C is a certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing at the University of Maine at Orono, and her Master of Science in Nursing and FNP certification at Barry University in North Miami Beach, Florida. Holly Gerlaugh Weidner FNP, PA-C, is certified as both a Family Nurse Practitioner and a Physician Assistant. Holly joined Colby College in 2011 after 30 years in family medicine and as a faculty member to family medicine residents at the Maine Dartsmouth Family Medicine Residency in Augusta. Her international experience has included providing medical care in an outpost station in Esteli, Nicaragua, supervising medical students in Jamaica, setting up cervical cancer surveillance programs in Puerto Cabeza, Nicaragua and teaching nurse practitioner students in the Dominican Republic. She received her BA in Biology at Cornell University in 1975 and her MS in Nursing at Pace University, then joined an internal medicine team at the Anthony Jordon Health Center in Rochester, NY in 1977. Christina "Tina" Steeves, is the Administrative Secretary for the Colby Health Center. Tina served Health Services as a Certified Athletic Trainer for 11 years prior to making a change into the office in August of 2009. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Health and Fitness as well as a Master's Degree in Kinesiology from the University of Maine at Orono. She is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association, Maine Athletic Trainers Association, and is a CPR and First Aid Instructor through the American Red Cross. Meredith Tardiff is the receptionist for the Colby Health Center. She graduated from Plus-Gray's School of Business. Working first in office settings, she transitioned to medical practices. Katie Sawyer, LCPC, LADC, CCS is credentialed as a licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor, and a Certified Clinical Supervisor. She graduated from Washington and Lee University with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology, and Lesley University with a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology. Her practice prior to coming to Colby focused on outpatient addiction treatment, with specialized work in medication-assisted treatment. Laura Patterson, RN: Staff Nurse. Laura graduated from the University of Texas School of Nursing, Austin in 1982. She specialized in Obstetrics and Prenatal Health prior to coming to Colby in 2006. Laura is certified as a Holistic Nurse (HNB-BC) and Clinical Aromatherapy Practitioner (CCAP).
Robin Shafer, RN, is a staff nurse at the Colby Health Center. Robin attended Pitzer College in Claremont, California, majoring in English and Physiological Psychology, and later attended the University of Maine, earning her Associate Degree in Science. She was employed at Maine General Medical Center, first as a counselor on the Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health Units for 9 years, and then as an RN for another 16 years. As a nurse, she has worked in several departments, including Occupational Medicine, Employee Health, Med Surg, ER, Behavioral Health, Detox, and Neuro/Rehabilitation. Judy Whyte, RN, joins the Colby Health Center with 20 years of nursing experience. She graduated from UMass Amberst in 1991. Judy has spent most of her clinical career in Emergency Rooms, Occupational Health and Employee Health Departments, as a Wellness Nurse for Hannaford, The State of Maine, and MainGeneral Health, as well as a camp nurse during recent summers. Donna Jurdak-Roy, MT (ASCP), is a certified Medical Technologist at the Colby Health Center. She received her Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from the University of Maine and received her clinical training at Maine Medical in Portland. She is board certified as a Medical Technologist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. She previously was the Hematology Supervisor at St Joseph's Hospital in Bangor, Maine and later worked several years at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Waterville, Maine. Timothy "Westy" Weston, ATC, is a Certified Athletic Trainer and Head Athletic Trainer for the Colby Health Center. He is a Licensed Athletic Trainer in the State of Maine. Westy received his Bachelor of Science and his Masters in Education Leadership from the University of Maine. Before coming to work for Colby, he worked for the New York Yankees minor league baseball league. He is currently the District One Secretary for the National Athletic Trainers Association. Amanda M. Meyer, M.S., ATC is a Certified Athletic Trainer. Amanda received her Bachelor of Arts in Health and Exercise Science with a concentration in Athletic Training from Rowen University. Christopher O'Toole, ATC, is a Certified Athletic Trainer, and is a Licensed Athletic Trainer in the State of Maine. Chris received his Bachelor of Science in Physical Education with a concentration in Athletic Training from Kean University. Chris also holds a degree as a Certified Ergonomics Specialist. Before coming to work for Colby, Chris worked in a number of sports medicine, physical therapy clinics. He has also worked at several sports clinics, the most notable of which is the Professional Development Association Summer Soccer Camp. He also worked as an Athletic Trainer at Southern Maine High School. Chris has been employed at Colby College since 2009. Megan Lander is a certified Athletic Trainer and a licensed Athletic Trainer in the state of Maine. Megan graduated from the University of Southern Maine with a Bachelors of science in Athletic Training in 2012. Since graduating, Megan has been training to be an EMT and volunteering with the disabled population to provide horseback riding lessons. Megan join Colby in September 2013 and is from Portland, Maine.
Paul M. Rucci, MS, ATC, NASM-PES is the Assistant Athletic Trainer at Colby College. Paul is from Millinocket, Maine and received his Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from the University of Maine at Presque Isle. While completing his undergraduate degree, Paul had been an intern at Colby College in the spring of 2011. Paul went on to earn a Master's Degree in Athletic Training from California university of Pennsylvania in 2012. He worked as the athletic trainer at Fort Kent Community High School before coming to Colby. While at Fort Kent Community HS, he oversaw all athletic training responsibilities for the student athletes.
