Student Performers

Convenient to schedule, easy to work with and inexpensive, the one catch with student performers (DJs, bands) is paying them. Unfortunately, you cannot contract and cut a check to a student performer or band as you can to a professional. The problem lies in the payroll system, the tax system and the federal government. Student performers must be paid through the Colby student payroll system. The Office of Campus Life is the place to go if you are in need of paying a student for services. Each student payee will require an online SPAF (Student Personnel Action Form) to be filled out. Payment amounts for student acts vary depending on the services, the number of performers and the event.

Make sure your student performers know that they will receive their payment in their bi-weekly paycheck.

Campus Life strongly recommends a standard DJ/performer rate of $50 for residence hall lounge events, $100 for Page Commons or outdoor events.

DEADLINE: The deadline for processing a student DJ/band payment is due the Monday following the event and NO LATER THAN 1 week after the event.
