All financial aid awards at Colby are based on an appraisal of an applicant's ability to meet the costs of a Colby education. Financial aid for international students is limited and the competition is keen, though recently Colby awarded over $3.4 million in institutional aid to more than 110 international students. Students who have supplied completed information to Colby's Office of Financial Aid and who are deemed eligible for aid receive a detailed financial aid package (conditions of the award as well as the specific U.S. dollar amounts involved) with the letter offering admission to Colby. The comprehensive fee covers tuition, room, and board. Books, school supplies, and personal expenses are also part of a student's budget. Enrolled international students who receive need-based Colby grant aid may choose a stipend or they may work on campus for during the summer. Financial Aid Application Instructions International students applying for financial aid will be considered for any Colby scholarship fund for which they may be eligible. Students from Denmark, from Zimbabwe, and from families that have suffered political oppression are qualified, if admitted, for Oak Foundation scholarships at the College. Graduates of the United World Colleges who are admitted to Colby qualify for funds from the Davis-United World College Scholars Program. Students with financial need from Latin America may qualify for a Neskowin Scholarship from Colby.
