residential life
Colby is a residential college. Virtually all students live on campus in 31 residence halls. Two thirds of the rooms in residence halls are doubles (designed for two students), and international students usually have a roommate from the United States. Students eat in any of three dining halls, each serving a distinctive menu. Students rank the food as outstanding. Cooking facilities are available in each residence hall. Ten faculty members, some with families, live in apartments in the residence halls, and many other faculty members are residence hall associates who join students for cultural events, meals, and informal get-togethers. The close interaction between students and faculty mentors in classes and labs inevitably extends to residential and social life as well, contributing to Colby's supportive atmosphere.
