Colby's Net Price Calculator

The purpose of the Net Price Calculator is to allow you to estimate the amount you will pay for a year at Colby, after deducting estimated grants, scholarships, and campus earnings. We hope that this will be a useful tool as you begin to assess Colby’s affordability and that it will provide you with a greater understanding and comfort level with the financial aid application process.

Although this calculator provides only an estimate, it may prove to be a better approximation of your family contribution at Colby than other calculators that are more generic. To help you make your estimates more accurate, we have shown here some guidelines for you to use as you enter your data into the calculator. The College’s definition of income and assets may be different from the IRS definitions with which you are more familiar. If your goal is to estimate as closely as possible what your Colby payment will be, then the guidelines may be helpful.

Please remember:

  • This calculator is not a financial aid application. The FAFSA and CSS Profile forms, as well as other forms that address special circumstances must be completed and submitted to the College as specified in the application instructions.
  • The estimated grants and work produced by this calculator are not a financial aid offer from the College. Your eligibility for aid at Colby will be determined on the basis of the information provided on a complete financial aid application.
  • The calculator is based on the need analysis policies in effect for students enrolling in the fall of 2011, and may change somewhat over time (e.g. to reflect inflation and cost of living changes).
Students and parents who are doing longer-term planning may wish to run the calculator at various income and asset levels, reflecting family financial strength now and also at the estimated time of enrollment. The other calculators in the Colby guideline sheet can help you to project estimated cost of attendance, parent saving patterns, and access to parent and student loan programs.
