Endowed scholarships enable Colby to recruit the best, the brightest, and the most deserving students in the country. Colby's named scholarships represent a vote of confidence in our College by the many generous alumni, parents, friends, and foundations who helped us keep faith with this fundamental premise.
Many Colby students also receive scholarships from other outside organizations. Outside scholarships may be awarded on the basis of merit or financial criteria. It is the students' responsibility to notify the College of the amount and source of any outside scholarships received. Unlike entitlements, such as Pell Grants and state scholarships, outside scholarships are considered to be a resource that may reduce the work study in the aid package and, in many cases, the calculated family contribution. Colby reduces the grant portion only if these outside scholarships total more than the packaged work study. In order to qualify for any of Colby's scholarships, students must be enrolled at the College and only the regular financial aid application is required to apply for these funds. No special application is necessary. More Scholarship information |
